    This original oil painting measures 8" x 5.75" (20 x 15cm).

Image Search + AI identified it as Paris, in the vicinity of Notre Dame, and as Post-Impressionist. (Kinda amazing, actually.)

It did not, however, identify who 'Erika' might be, and thus I once again appeal to you wonderfully knowledgeable & helpful people.

Might be, but I think they're oils.

Some parts look like they were done with a palette knife, some with a brush. The sky looks like it was sorta filled in and then sponged off a bit.

This is what our overlords have said:

"The image appears to be a mid-20th-century Impressionistic painting depicting a French street scene. Here's a breakdown of notable characteristics:
    • Style:
The painting employs an Impressionistic style, characterized by visible brushstrokes, a focus on light and atmosphere, and a somewhat abstracted representation of the subject. The alla prima technique, applying wet paint to wet paint, may have been used, contributing to the textured and immediate feel of the work.
    • Subject:
The scene likely represents a town or village in France, possibly with a bridge over a river or canal. The architecture suggests a historic European setting, with buildings clustered together and a prominent church or tower in the background.
    • Artist:
The artist is currently unidentified, described as a "mystery artist" in the source. The signature "Rura" is visible in the lower left corner, which could be a clue to the artist's identity. Further research into artists with this signature or working in this style and period might reveal more information.
    • Medium:
The painting appears to be oil on canvas or board, given the texture and brushstrokes visible.
    • Framing:
The painting is framed with a double frame, featuring a gold-toned outer frame and a gray inner mat, which enhances the presentation and focuses attention on the artwork.
    • Possible Influences:
The painting's style and subject matter are reminiscent of artists like Olivier Foss, known for his French landscape paintings. It also shares similarities with the works of the Barbizon school and other Impressionists who focused on landscape and everyday life.
    • Location:
The scene might depict a specific location in France. Comparing the architectural details and layout to known French towns and villages could help identify the setting. For example, it has some resemblances to views of Charlecote Park Great Hall."

At first glance I dismissed it as tourist art but after several good long looks I love it !

Thanks! I was nervous about that--- a Paris scene: enjoy your vacation for 40 francs! But I too think it's not just a quick made commercial piece. Or, if it is quick-made, not just for the sake of cash.

None of which is true, of course.:playful:
    Oh dear, oh dear.
And I see Charlecote Park has jumped over the Channel.:D An amazing feat.:pompous:
And of course Charlecote Park looks very British and nothing like the subject of the painting:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Looks like the frame shop is no longer in business, at least not at that address. Now there is an older building attached to a strip mall, and it is mostly a store selling flooring. Was hoping to at least find when it might have been framed.

    Thank you for looking!

It's a busy commercial strip today, and probably was also when this was framed.
