I have a friend that grew up in Ohio and her mom gave her a collection of stuff like this and she called it "Treen". This one is about 3 3/4" inches high and 2" wide. Penciled in 2 places is "1886". I am just guessing at the wood type, maybe Maple. I got it at an estate clearance place for a couple bucks. I was wondering if there was anything specific about the style that would allow you to associate it with a certain regions of the country? I live in Michigan. I was also curious as to what it might be for? Maybe something for the Kitchen? Thanks in advance for your help.

Factory-made, these are found all over the place. I have no idea what they originally held, but they're a good size for sewing bits.
