Soldier Hood Ornament

Hi all, posting for a friend to help solve a long time mystery for him. He purchased it as a hood ornament but has never been able to properly ID it. Is it possible it’s something else? Thanks in advance!

I unfortunately didn’t get the opportunity to measure but it was roughly 4.5”-5”

I thought it looked like some kind of an old German Kaiser helmet or Prussian military helmet but I had no luck in searches.

 

Military-ish, but not anything official I suspect.

I agree with Laura about the German look to the uniform. What I can't figure is why the "base" is rolling like this.

 

Out of Classical Greek times, helmet more likely to be found on a fireman than a soldier, I'd think.

Frankly to me, the bottom part looks kind of like a motorcycle seat.....wonder if it might be something to do with a custom ornament having to do with ex-German military????

 

The bottom of that base is an as cast surface - so it was made to fit something with that shape - I would rule out a cars hood. Unless those 2 pieces are a marriage for display purposes.
