    Hello friends,
I would like to discover something of this work,
    very charming and sacred.
A possible and hypothetical dating, the origin depending on the style, the technique, etc.
The decorations on the haloes seem to me to be executed in gold leaf.
The "clear on black" parts are not clear, but it is only the effect of the flash reflection
    Dimensions with frame: 52 × 38 × 2 cm
    painting: 40x26 cm
I thank you all in advance for your expertise and the time you dedicate to me

It is in the general style of an icon of the Orthodox Church, strikes me as quite modern. What is it painted on?

    thanks Bronwen :)

it seems to me that it is painted on paper or thin cardboard

Ah, so, Greek Orthodox Church, Mary of Nazareth

    Good morning Gian.:)
Is it a painting or a print? Sounds like it could be a print.

The image is a modern rendition of one of the Holy Mary icons attributed to St Luke, who was a painter as well as a doctor. St Luke knew Mary personally.
This particular one is called the Hodegetria, or She Who Shows (Points) the Way. She is pointing at Jesus, implying that he is the way.
The original, which is lost, was said to have healed the blind, which could be a metaphor for making people see (the way).
It is the most popular one of the St Luke icons to both Eastern Orthodox and Western Catholics and associated churches.

I don't know if this one was made in Greece or elsewhere. Greeks usually add some Greek script to their icons.
Because of the popularity of the Hodegetria they are made wherever Christians are across the globe

I can't tell if it's a painting or a print but the gold looks like it was applied on top. It's difficult to be sure from photographs but it does appear to be real gold leaf.

    Hello AJ :)
Thanks a lot for your info and the explanation.
There is a real gold leaf over I will send better photos asap
I think it's a painting because I cannot find printing patterns and by reflections of flash I can see oil colors
I'll try to take photos without flash tomorrow.
Very interesting to learn from you all.
    :)

Definitely gold leaf. The image appears to be painted, however, it looks like different mediums were used in different areas.
