A few questions. First off what is this? 7-8" across. Condiment holder? Also is there a name for that textured surface?

I assume silverplate, silver over copper maybe. Can anyone take a stab at the marks (which are quite worn). Thank you!

Looks like the start of one mark may be 'EP', so EPNS is a strong possibility. The texture style is called hammered or planished.

    Thank you.

I cropped to get a better close-up. Almost looks like there might be two more initials under the stamp on the left. These marks are seriously worn.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Even with sharpening, contrasting, etc....it's large enough to begin with, I find it hard to figure out...the letters on the RIGHT look to be Old English style...A Star first, then a C or E, then I think a P, then I don't know what! On the LEFT....something above the letters HG, maybe an arrow facing right?? But then looks maybe a smaller 'u' above a 'P' OR could be small roman numerals II with 2 dots UNDER that?? And below maybe M.M???? @Lucille.b, your cropped image that you just uploaded might be better than what I just worked over!!! SO HARD TO FIGURE on this one!!!!!!!!!

Without the reflection in your last cropped image, @Lucille.b, that last mark on the RIGHT now looks like either an 'S' or a '5'.........to me---if that helps any!!

    Actually that's helpful, Aqui.

    Left looks like H C P ? And bottom initials M. (?) H. (?) maybe ??

Would I call this a condiment tray?

I think it's more like a relish tray than condiments.

Thanks. Like pickles and olives or similar? It's about 7" across, so that might work!
