Another bunch of things I never researched because I didn't expect to find anything, but I'll post them here and see if anyone has comments.

Here's a quick snap taken to show comparative sizes:
    Wine Stems.JPG

The three on the left fluoresce a marginal green, the two on the right, a weak icy blue. All have pontil scars, polished on 4, unpolished only on the shortest. No safety rims. The tallest is 5”, the shortest 4”.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Mom always had a ton of (various) those around the house (mostly collected from her house clearances, a few bought) , that Dad seldom used an actual brandy snifter, just grabbed one of these small stemmed whatevers for his after dinner brandy!!:)

EDIT: Mos, I think the word you (and I) might be looking for is "Apertif" glasses! Yours and mine (that I don't think I have anymore) I think are more like 1800's.........from a quote "to heighten the taste buds before a meal"?

Do a search for "baluster" on Replacements. I had several pieces of the Royal Leerdam years ago but the stems made me instantly think of them. I don't think they matched any of the stems but going back & forth was making me cross-eyed. :p:p

On a bright note, I was able to remember the word in just a couple of minutes instead of hours or days later!!!! Maybe working the crossword puzzles is finally starting to help.:smuggrin::smuggrin:
