Featured Specimen marble and micro mosaic table with mahogany base -- any ideas on age?

    From what I know the table top would be 19th century. Someone went on a trip to Italy and brought it home as a souvenir. Where the base was made would be wherever the buyer lived. It could have been done a lot later too. One of the furniture people would know better.

    It's trying hard to be Empire in style. That triangular buttressing of the coliseum walls was not complete until 1827, which puts it after the initial Empire period. A later revival, but I don't know when.

    That medallion does look like pietra dura but that base does look awfully new so Im thrown. Its a lovely table .

    base is French Empire. if they were produced together is seen when you turn it over.
