Featured Spinach Jade? small covered bowl on stand. Use? Vintage vs. new?

Another piece from the never-ending estate auction.

I think this piece is spinach jade from what I have seen previously on the forum. Does it have any age to it or are we talking fresh off the boat?

Also, what would you use this bowl for or is it strictly decorative? Do you think these 2 pieces started out together or did they just end up that way?

It is 6" to the top of the handle on the lid when the pot is in place on the stand. The pot itself is 3 3/8" to the top of the handle & 2 3/8" to the side edge. The stand is 2 3/8" to the top & is 3 1/8" across to the top.

I would be cautious. The carving of your piece is extremely crude.

It's too soft for jade; I'd put smart money on serpentine or soapstone. Probably post-WWII but beyond that I haven't a clue.

That is why I included a close-up of the stand. It did not seem very smoothly done.

I never thought about it being something like soapstone so I am glad I asked before listing.

Off to look for green soapstone & serpentine.
