These beads remind me of the old marbles that are on my parents solitaire board. Full of bubbles!
Are these likely to be Venetian or Czech?. Some age to them?-or just feel old as they are filthy.
They are heading for a bath to restore their glory!

Get that vinegar out. 20s or30s I'd say. I'm inclined to Italian - is there aventurine in there?

That was my gut feeling but not knowing why.
They are fairly rustic full of bubbles and there is some dirt in the glass too. I love them though, I really have a bead problem .
How ever did you detect Aventurine from there?!.
Are you looking through my kitchen window?.:hilarious: No Aventurine in these red beads but there is in these pale blue ones that were just out of shot! They arrived with them, together with all the goodies below. Total bargain for £12.50!!.

Very nice! I've got those blue beads in green and I've also got similar to a few others you have there. I think the aventurine may be Venetian, but sometimes it's hard to differentiate from Bohemian.

Thankyou. I need to do some more research into identifying Italian vs Czech vs Bohemian.

Looks like the Germans did a good line in the swirled glass but the swirls are more on the inside.

Are the black ones with the broad middle white stripe glass or stone KSW?

    One of these?
Both are glass- the bigger beads on the right are each wrapped with a band of white glass.
The smaller ones on the left the swirls are within the glass. I wonder if these are quite old as the wire work looks quite fragile. I’m about to vinegar bath those!

Ah, yes I can see better now thanks. The reason I asked was because I have these banded beads which I thought were stone, they feel colder than glass but I’m still not absolutely sure. I’ve seen agates beads like these.
