    hey folks

this was only 20p, so no worries if its rubbish

the base looked interesting enough to buy as hopefully might have a bit of age

either part spongeware or painted by child !!

    any thoughts/theories appreciated

    Hi,
My thoughts are a wonderful green vase. Me thinks someone with not much talent has "tarted" the vase. It would have been better without the veins on the leaves. As it is I would strip off the paint and enjoy it. I rather enjoy the blue flower though.

    I wouldn't call it spongeware.
    Enamel painted.

At first I thought possibly 1880s Japanese. Now I'm thinking 1940s cottage pottery. But you're in England - correct?, so maybe not that either. Unless England had the same cottage pottery industry that the US did in the 30s and 40s.
