    It really is amazing, thanks for posting it.
    I feel very sorry for the nursery maid who embroidered the sampler though. A true MeToo document.:(

    Well noted, re. MeToo documents. Important but horrible! “they treated me with cruelty too horrible to mention … for trying to avoid the wicked design of my master I was thrown down stairs”!

    That poor nursemaid . Im so glad her life improved . I like weird and funky stuff,but those things are too creepy to look at every day !

    Seconded... I’ve never liked what I saw of his work. His Europe After the Rain II actually makes me a bit uncomfortably... a shame seeing as I am very fond of Magritte!

    Poor girl. Easy to presume that kind of abuse no longer exists but it’s still so out there.

    Yes, unfortunately. Often foreign workers who don't know if and where they can report it. If they dare to, that is.
    Some are even kept locked up by their 'employers'. Modern slavery.
