Found at an estate sale, I think one of the guys was some type of minister. The stone has a porous, scratchy, sandy feel. Measures about 5 1/2" tall. Any ideas about this piece? Thanks so much in advance!

Not finding it with a quick online search, but idle guess is it is a cathedral souvenir, the original being a jamb figure.

Made me think of those little figurines that you bury in your yard to help sell your house quickly... but that's St. Joseph!

I found this image online linked to a Christie's auction, but there was no further info attached to the image IMG_5505.jpeg

I love it ! So tactile. Id guess he has a little bit of age,but of course he might have sat in a garden for 20 years.

Reproductions of these Medieval-inspired figures were popular in the 1960s/1970s.

They used to make these in France, probably still do. Based on Romanesque statues in places like Vézelay or Arles.
Google Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, Vézelay, or Saint Trophime, Arles for gorgeous Romanesque carvings.:)
