Starman Statue?

Would anybody have any inkling as to what this would represent? Very unusual statuette, very hard material measuring 5"H. Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

 

Is it cement/concrete?

 

I'm absolutely certain we have seen one of these before, and fairly sure no one knew anything. Hard to believe there are two of them.

 

BigFoot?

Does it look like someone burned a candle inside?

 

Looks like a student project, although the clay body does have some ethnographic characteristics. Perhaps an experiment in homemade clay.

 

Not clay nor concrete/cement. Not a candle holder either. Haha, bigfoot with a spacesuit, mebbe.

 

Not suggesting at all that your object is from the Nok culture, but this is what I meant by the character of the clay body, with noticeable inclusions:
Yours sure looks like fired ceramic to me, from the composition, and the way it has been shaped and cut.

 

I have seen one of these before, but not on these boards... I had one! And it's not the same one! Can't find the text file on mine, but I'm confident there was no real info there.


That photo is from about 20 years ago, taken with a camera that recorded the image to a floppy disc.

 

Wow, learn something new every day. Now I wonder how old it is, regardless, at least I know what it is, thanks to all for your informative help.

 

It's not a connection I would have made. Maybe these are souvenirs from that museum.
