Hello, I wasn't sure if this was the right place to post this, but here it is anyways. I recently bought this statue from a friend for $125, I know little to nothing about it. It is quite heavy, 25lbs+, no markings at all. It is a very nice Buddha on a lotus throne, recently made in Bali, Indonesia.

Forgot to say, the wood is teak, probably from neighbouring East Java.

Agree modern. VERY well carved for modern. If it’s as big as it looks I think $125 was a steal. As a whole it achieves the serenity it was striving for and that’s worth $. Nice pick up.

These are sold as teak wood and look like it to me. Albesia is mostly used for lower quality small carvings (because it splits easily) as well as painted and stained carvings.
