Hello again. Now I am trying to find out information on a steiff bear from the 30's or 40's. The button is missing but the hole is there. Debbie said it had a steiff button but cannot remember what happened to it. She thinks her kids pulled it out playing with it. Can anyone let me know who I can talk to regarding history and value and to make sure debbie is correct in this being a steiff bear. I will need to get more photos? Any area I should concentrate on? file[3].jpeg Debbie is still digging more stuff out for me to research on.
    Thank you as always.

@Christmasjoy You gave me great information on the dolls. Is there anything you can add to help "educate" me regarding this bear?

the tag helps date the bear and authenticate it.....
you'll have to find the exact bear online, to get a handle on this one...
no tag will also lower any value.

    ha...he's already up on google.......

if you could shoot the bear in a sitting up pose like this...
it may help to identify him...

@komokwa Thanks for the image. Do you have a link. I have to go to debbies house and take more pictures. I can take on of it sitting if that would help.

There was a member here who sold Steiff at the Brimfield Flea Market. I can't remember his name to tag him. I didn't have any luck finding the old post either. Does anyone remember his name?

    I don't think it's yours , but I thought I was getting close......
Still most are in a sitting position......so yours would benefit from the same look....i think.

    All,

Thanks for the info. I have not posted the bear yet. I want to make sure I represent it correctly prior to post so I can make sure no one is wronged. :)

Clay Smith is his name, he hasn’t been here since 2014? under that name anyway. I tried tagging him but it won’t work.

    Hi Moparbrian......

I don't think your photos show enough detail.

I would send photo to the Steiff company for confirmation.

If you do that, send clear photos of their pads....both arms and feet.

Steiff bears have very long arms. The way this bear is propped up, rather than sitting on its own, it's difficult to tell. Also, in the picture, the pads look overstuffed....can't tell for sure.

I think Steiff buttons were in their left ear, but I could be very wrong.....perhaps they were placed in either ear.

The nose area in your photo does not look shaved which is typical in their bears....but perhaps not all.

I certainly am not any expert on Steiff, but I've handled a few.
