Sterling Embassy Dish

    The Oval dish is 6 inches long by 4 inch wide

    On the front it has a round sorta seal that says "Embassy of the United States with the Eagle Emblem. On the back it has G&Co Ld , 3 hallmarks with the roaring Lion. It also has on the back "Ambassador and MRS LEONARD K. FIRESTONE" ," BRUSSELS","GARRARD & Co. Ltd. 112 Regent Street W "

    It weighs about 124 gms

    Anything else you could tell me about it would be appreciated.

    Assayed in Sheffield, England in 1976 when Ambassador Firestone was US Ambassador to Belgium. No doubt a gift, perhaps to someone attending an event.

    Wealthy Republican donor. Served as U.S. Ambassador to Belgium from 1974-1976. Given Garrard, I'd suspect a farewell gift to staff, etc.

    "... wealthy Republican donor." If he were doing his job properly, it would have been from an American silver brand such as Tiffany's.
