    This is a lovely thing. I just thought you'd like to see it.
    I got it with the pierced spoon I just posted, along with a few other sterling pieces about a month ago - at that house where there'd already been an estate sale held, and a person organizing and cleaning it out since last fall.
    Any and all comments are welcome.

    Nice - their popular 'Lancaster' pattern, introduced in 1897, your piece was made in 1908, flatware doesn't usually bear a date mark, but this is really more a holloware piece - interestingly, the production code prefix 'B' should be for dresser, desk or clothing items, 'A' should be on dining table items, but apparently tea strainers, tea balls, etc. also received the 'B' prefix...

    Hmmm ... my daughter-in-law loves tea. She and my oldest son are expecting their first baby. Hes 41 and she's 37:)eek:). They are having a not so great pregnancy cooped up in their Brooklyn apartment. She's due July 5.
    This would make a nice baby gift, wouldn't it? Don't people still give mothers presents when they have a baby?

    I used to live in NE Mass and worked one or 2 buildings away from the Daniel Low store in the late 70's. Neat windows!

    Hi,
    Back when Gram was still around you NEVER gave a Mother's Day present to an expectant lady. It was only courting trouble after the birth it was alright but NEVER before the baby was born.

    Prudent. I have friends expecting and I want to give them an engraved King Edward silver-plated baby spoon and fork set. But I'm waiting until all is well. :angelic:
