Found this with my soapstone figure.

Is it probably sterling as it says? I mean it doesn't have a hallmark...would it be part of a set? Is it a cream jug? Is it Edwardian or newer? It has no gilt inside it .. it's an inch across the bottom and two and a half down.
I have looked at many jugs and got really ... is this a sparrow beak spout?
    Many thanks to all xx

Silver, indeed, but probably not British. A little individual cream or milk jug, early 20th.

Adorable little jug! Could be US - there is no "hallmarking system" here like the one you have over there. Simply marking "sterling" is not uncommon on older pieces and items made by individual smiths. Really should have a maker's info somewhere, though, on something so nice.

Thank you Bakers! Was thrilled to see it...he turned it over in his hand before I paid, I was a little worried he'd see the sterling and charge me too much for my tightwad self! But he didn't,and it now sits on a table next to me( filled with Things already)

    It is, absolutely!
@Ownedbybear what do you think of a possible colonial origin? Marking Down Under was optional, and could be 'sterling' as well. I was thinking the footrim could be a clue, maybe New Zealand ferns?

I wondered if the decoration ( is that the right word? It's not really decorated is it?) might give a clue but I don't really mind, just glad it exists and is on my shelf!

From the same booty on the same day,but a different seller, I found a necklace for 20p on it and that says STERLING on the clasp too ... I cannot remember which box I stashed it in,this booty was a bumper harvest for boxes! And lovely things to put in them!

Colonial in terms of OZ or NZ makes sense: not Indian, the style is wrong, but Antipodes is very feasible.
