    Hi,
I'm trying to figure out who made this. WC mark - I think the date is for 1831 or it could be 1791. Lots of different makers with the same mark so I'm stumped on this.
    Any ideas appreciated.
    thanks for looking

I'm not great with marks but I think because the lion isn't crowned it can't be 18th Century. I think it could be 1831 because of the monarch (worn) with 1901 as a possibility. Maybe William Chawner II but wait for someone who really knows something:).

Oh, good call on the uncrowned lion, I didn't notice that:) According to 925-1000 the uncrowned mark was used from 1822 to the present day. There is a duty mark so it has to be before 1891, so I guess this is 1831.

William Chawner is a reasonable guess, it was the first name that occoured to me. Duty mark is William IV.
