    hi did you actually test for silver? i never trust those marcasite pieces..

    Looks like the marcasite is glued in.

    I have had many pieces of sterling with glued in marcasites. Polish that poor puppy up :)

    i do think 'sterling' was, at least partially stamped in, it's likely, at least partially sterling. Marcasite jewelry was all the rage for a while..

    I can keep cleaning but in my opinion it looks better with a bit a patina.

    agreed leave patina, that's how they were originally sold - with patina

    Sold with patina? So, they were treated to make them darker?

    Absolutely. Liver of sulfur is the treatment I know, but there are many others nowadays.
