OK I give up. I have to ask.

Why the hell are coffee pots tall and narrow, and teapots are short and fat? What's the reasoning behind this thing?

    Hi,
It all has to do the the brew. Teapots have spouts from the bottom since tea leaves float. Coffee pots have higher spouts since coffee grounds sink. Chocolate pots have a spout at the top so they can be stirred. That was always the reason I was given since a kid.
