Funny. This is a painting by the artist, "Kayser". Different instrument and throw and no clock.

 

Would you be kind enough to post a photograph of the entire painting including frame and the back as well? Identifying an artist often depends on identifying the period in which s/he was working. And a complete work gives clues as to whether the artist was amateur or not.

Well then, the name of the artist won't be of much import.

That's too bad, @kardinalisimo, because I think what we can see of it, is REALLY nice. No-one ever said amateurs can't do terrific work!!!

 

I don’t know but not very pleased with the execution.

 

Is the painting signed? Heinrich Ernst Kayser was German violinist and composer. The Kayser in the violin painting might simply refer to the sheet music.
