Stone glue question

Hi... I had a very nice onyx jewelry box that hubby dropped on the floor. Of course, it broke! Fortunately, mostly big pieces and MOSTLY where they were originally joined together. I expect the glue got old and brittle. But there are a couple pieces that also broke off. Does anyone have a clue what glue might be best to try and put it back together??

    Thanks

Duco cement glue was recommended on the board sometime this summer to fix a huge black pottery bowl.

It worked great and has the added benefit of being easily dissolved if someone in the future ever wants to take it apart and redo the repair.

    [
E] most are between 2" and 6"... and flat side to side or end to side. There are several which are jagged but are much smaller pieces.

Your website looks interesting! I did estate sales here in the US for awhile... HARD dirty work; but kind of fun and always interesting!

Duco is not very good for non-porous surfaces such as stone, and it will discolor with age. A clear, 2 part epoxy would probably be best - but it will be irreversible.

    I swear by Gorilla Glue.

There was a thread about this a while back, it might even have been one of my sad and sorry items I rescued and needed mending. Someone gave great advice but I can’t remember who!

Google (as we all know an extremely reliable source) just told me that Gorilla Glue is currently the strongest marihuana.

Of course I live in the Netherlands, that could have someting to do with it.:hilarious:
