Stoneware canteen / jug

    I don't know if this is antique - or really the origin of it at all. It's signed but I can't quite make out the signature. Picked it up at a salvation army store a couple weeks ago. Any ideas on age / origin?

    Lau?
    Wine jug?
    The rope looks like macrame - that was popular in the late 60s early 70s.
    Studio pottery?

    Just throwing out my thoughts.
