Storage find. I have what I believe to be 3 jade pendants.Very cold to the touch. How can you test for jade. Also is this little statue called a roly poly netsuke.I found a few but didn't look like this one. SAM_0066.JPG SAM_0065.JPG SAM_0068.JPG SAM_0069.JPG SAM_0070.JPG

True jade is extremely hard, you can't scratch it with a steel point.

What is the colour of the stone pieces in daylight? That artificial light/flash makes it very difficult to see colour or detail.
If the piece on the left is pale pink, it could be rose quartz. It looks like nice quality carving, but we really need to see good detail in natural light.
The piece in the middle is a mystery in this light with unnatural shimmer.
The piece on the right looks like serpentine. It is a version of the Shou character, for longevity.

I agree, the netsuke represents Daruma, the monk who introduced Buddhism to Japan. But it is missing its face with bulging eyes, which was probably beautifully carved ivory inlay, with possibly lacquer or inked highlights. The eyes could have been of the rolling type.
So now it is essentially Daruma's robe, minus Daruma himself. That makes a huge difference to the value.:(
On the upside, you don't have to worry about selling ivory.;)

Not mine, I sold almost all of my netsuke because I want to sell most of my antique ivory while I still can. I have kept the ones of people with fans though. For now.

If those holes that suggest eyes are not where the cord would pass through for use as a netsuke, how can this be both a netsuke & Daruma sans face? I see no way for it to sit like the ones shown, unless there is a flat side not picked up in photos.

I was thinking snail shell until Daruma came up.

The brown one doesn't look like jade to me, the opaque one does, and the largest probably isn't either. This is just from what I can see from here, so don't take that as definitive.

    Thanks for the photos, antiquelover.
The Shou sign one is serpentine imo, the other two look like jade.
