Caught this great BBC documentary recently

Amazing how nobody still knows why his violins sound so good

Presenter gets to handle and even play some

Hopefully you'll be able to view, sorry if it's not available to some

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Or I'd REALLY like it if they'd show it in full light!!! Every now & then it pops into full light, so don't know what's with that....watchable, but like almost in a room with most of the lights out.....not your fault though!!

Post-production ruining yet another perfectly good documentary.

Many post-production companies seem to be run by toddlers who get free access to grown-up's computers and over-edit to such an extent that viewers have to lie in a darkened room after trying to watch their 'handiwork'.
    (Husband used to make documentaries.)

Didn't realize it was one of those partially Hidden type ones

One of the strads on show was an example that had never been played

Also one made by his father, and a super size

I wonder what happens to the strads that need restoration through play wear, wonder if the magic is compromised by repairs

I'm getting REALLY, REALLY tired of directors choosing to film in the dark. Or in flitting shadows. Or from behind a gravestone, fallen tree, or between some random bloke's legs!

Or adding really loud music so you can't understand the narrator. (Not in this case.)

That is my pet peeve. I can't tell you how many documentaries that I have seen where the sound effects overshadow the people speaking. I typically just stop watching at that point.

The audio person has to have their moment I guess, and the producers have seen and heard everything so many times, they are oblivious to it.

So do I. If they don't want me to hear what is said, it is of no use to me.
Many audio people simply failed as musicians. Therapy could help.:playful:
