Featured Strange California pottery bowl La Finca Studios?

This is an odd thing and i just had to for some reason.
Measures 8 1/2" long and 3 1/2" wide. Outside kind of looks and feels like coral. The bottom gold has been painted and the original white shows through. I tried searching the sticker La Finca Studios?
Santa Monica California. nothing so far.

I think thats original paint on the bottom. I like weird and strange usually,but I just dont know how I feel about this one ! Its got the Lava look,its got color,it makes a statement BUT ...!

 

It being from Santa Monica, I would guess it's supposed to be a shell tray, faux mother of pearl interior with faux barnacle edging. Maybe a "prize" from the Santa Monica Pier?

 

That gold paint is on the edges of the sticker so you can see it isn't original.

You are right. It has the look of that Hawaii lava pottery.

Looks a bit like a conch shell from the top. I love odd and funky but I think even I’d drop this one on the side of the road and hope someone brought it home and fed it. However hoping some small old collectible CA studio made it maybe I would drag it home.

 

It's not in Lois Lehner's book of pottery marks. I searched the index.
La Finca translate from Spanish to English as The Farm.
