I was looking at the piece today and my imagination came with a bird nest, eggs and serpent stealing them. Could it be?

 

Haha! Ever since you put the pics up, I get a conglomeration of sea creatures that come to mind when I look at it.
Spiky-spiny crab legs, oyster shell, pearls, and octopus tentacles.

Now that you put bird nest, eggs and snakes into my head, I can see that, too.

 

Now I start seeing those see creatures
