I know this is a shot in the dark but any ideas on a maker? First pic makes it look wonky but it actually sits square. Thought this too well done to be amateur.

Hi there, this looks a lot like David Stewart's mark and how he signed the letter S in his signature. I don't know if the date makes sense, but it's possible. He was in college in 1957 but in 1959, he became a student of then longtime apprentice to Marguerite Wildenhain at Pond Farm. The style looks like it could be his... I definitely think it's worth looking into this a little more. Good luck!

Doesn't look to be his work based on the type of clay but appreciate the insight. Looks like his works are generally fully signed.
