Grabbed this vase over the weekend. Looked like an attractive interesting studio piece, so I just bagged it without looking to deep into it. I also grabbed a couple of EPNS tankards while I was there. I took the price labels off the tankards, only to reveal the names Doreen and Alistair engraved on them. Hoodwinked by the naive volunteers again! I started image searching the vase and it threw up loads of results for Loetz but it wasn't ringing true. If only. I tried Jonathan in the search terms and Jonathan Harris came up. Whooo. A bit of research and discovered he is the son of Michael Harris. Here's to Alistair and Doreen :woot:

Maybe Alistair and Doreen got it as a wedding gift? And then split up?

Love the vase! I think I need it.:hungry::playful:
Could be English, reminds me of John Ditchfield, but @Ownedbybear will probably have to correct me.;)

Doreen and Alistair are asking for their tankards.

It’s absolutely British, and he’s a very very good glassmaker too. There’s a long family history of it.

The finish on the glass is amazing. Must have taken years to perfect and a big pile of lumpy broken glass things.

It does look rather like it says Jonathan Harris and he does seem to make lovely glass. :)

I just thought I'd share the AI opinion (dare I say statement?) Scary

"The item is a "Blue Luster Vase with Forest Design & Millefiores". Additional details include:
    • It is made of blown glass.
    • The vase was made by Glass Master Saul Alcaraz in 2020.
    • It measures 12 inches in height and 6 inches in width.
    • The vase is one-of-a-kind.
    • It was made in the United States."

Don’t get me started on google lens and AI.

Isle of Wight glass, which his father founded, has a long history of superb iridescent and petrol finish glass. It’s lovely.

It says Ironbridge on the bottom line so sure it's by Harris. Would be nice if it was by Alcaraz but I'll settle for Harris :)

    Your vase is lovely!

I only posted the AI information because it's so "off" and I'm hoping people know not to trust what pops up. It's a tool, but not a reliable one.

Preaching to the choir here, I'm sure, but maybe visitors will take note;)

No mean feet these days to outwit even the most thick-skulled volunteer with such a glorious piece.
Such pearls are scarce in the public picking pits these days.

Caught one OOPS today - 5 cents on the dollar art glass, and one on Saturday (Napier 1930s cocktail jigger, sold as as a random pewter coffee scoop - 2.5 cents on the dollar) I wish it happened more often!
