Stunning Vintage Art Deco 4870 Line Markel Hanging Ceiling Light Chandelier

We were lucky enough to come across 2 complete Markel ceiling lamps.

Piece needs re wiring.

This lamp was made by Markel Lighting in the 1930's and is part of the 4870 line.

The base is made of cast iron that has been sprayed gold and has lines decorating it as well as a geometric design that the wire snakes around. The bottom is a pearlized shade that looks rainbow like in different lights. There are 5 sockets. This part is 16 1/2" long and the chain adds another approx 7".

Each of the 5 slip shades is the same luster cream with golden yello lined and 3 petals or water drops. Each is approx 6" tall and 4 1/4" across at the widest. These have a flowing shape and are very art deco.

There is some gold paint chipping on the base and a few small scratches on the shades but nothing obvious, just from use. One of the shades has 2 black marks on the base that is not visible when hanging and these are deliberate marks. Not sure why! Some of the edges are a bit rough as well with some a couple of slight chips but these are not present on the visible parts.

The circular plate that goes directly on the ceiling is nearly 5 1/4" across and 2 3/4" from the bottom to the tip of the cone.

A very rare piece that is in very good condition!
