Style or region of this rocker?

My grandmother was given this rocking chair by a friend in the summer prior to Pearl Harbor (1941). Was reportedly 100 years old then and the owner did not want to repair it. Is this rocker a specific style or from a specific region? No marks or labels on it anywhere. Hard leather seat, no padding. It's got a great creak - soothed 4 generations of my family now.

Not that old. circa 1910. Barley twist details make me think English but suppose it could be American. Wood is oak.
