Whatcha think? I loved this, was thinking of sitting on it and maybe repainting it but decided I liked it as-is. Funky wrought iron set, interesting shape, no? Price /value? It is a bistro style terrace set. This elegant style is still popular and still made.
The design pre-dates the mid 20th century by quite a few decades. So definitely not mid 20th.

If you don't re-paint it, you can varnish the exposed parts so they don't rust away from under you.;)

No, not MCM. I'd think 1930s because of its theatrical flourishes (but could be wrong, of course.) Would repaint nicely if that's a preference but good advice above if not.

What kind of varnish? Do they make a wood varnish or is there a special metal varnish?

What do you guys think about Value? I looked online and it seems all over the place....Remember I'm in Seattle in the land of people pay more here for questionable items!

Diva-You're an old pro here-and you nailed it's Value-'all over the place...';)
PS-A beauty,I like the relic look, but to each their own.

There is transparent lacquer for metal. Wood varnish won't work, at least not for long.

I think 1960s/70s for this. Not in an MCM way, more Hollywood Regency.

Looks like it's been painted several times and kind of gloppy multi layered spots and some rust, not sure what to recommend as to the finish.

It's a nice smaller set which is unusual. Typically it's a table with 4 chairs.

Yes, the demi-lune shape is sweet.

Id get it stripped and powder coated. I had our ice cream parlor table and chairs done 15 years ago and still not a scratch on them and they see daily use.

That's the best way to restore, of course.

I am in the 1960s or so camp on this. Here in the semi-rural Midwest, $150 max on value and would probably need to sell for less most places. Maybe double that in Seattle? Probably would need to refinish to get top dollar.

If you have a place for it on a porch or deck, I would definitely keep that set. The shape is just lovely. I have a small set but it is very newer and the table is round with 2 chairs. I salvaged it out of my next door neighbor's trash. He throws away perfectly good things because he's too lazy to drive up to Goodwill.

If you keep it for a while, you'll know if it's a long term keeper. That's what I do when I can't decide and the profit is not substantial. In other words, I can afford to keep it. My prediction is, it will grown on you like a vine!

Thanks everyone for the input, I appreciate it as always. It is a cute, unique little set. I'm a little conflicted as to whether I should strip it and powder coat it, it is super cute and unique. I'm just in the business of a fast flip in most cases.....and, as Brad said, people in my neck of the woods tend to pay good $$ for imperfect pieces anyway....

It is sweet....I will probably never find another like it! It doesn't really go with my house, I need to let it go. But it IS neat....despite the gloppy paint job! LOL
