I have this rather beautiful piece which I inherited and originally belonged to my Great-Great-Grandfather. I know that this is oak, although I wondered if anyone had any ideas of its date and a possible value (even though I'm not looking to part with it!)

Any help would be much appreciated!

Really looks more like walnut in this picture. Impossible to say with certainty from this pic but likely late 19th or early 20th century. Styling is, of course, French.

Looks pretty walnutty for oak. Definitely continental styling ca. 1870s-80s.
