And I am well rewarded. Love the tea chests too. My latest cameo acquisition is a Georgian ring. A gracious time, if you had the money.

I feel the same way about antique tortoiseshell as I do about ivory: it cannot be undone now; we can honor the sacrifice by admiring & preserving the beautiful things of the past while doing our best to put an end to the present day slaughter.

agree .also love pique work, jewellery and small boxes, you probably know that pique jewellery was allowed to be worn after 1st year of mourning, will show you some ivory one day....regards...pewter2

How do you identify if they're Georgian? Are they marked?

British hallmark information is comprehensive and make this possible, reference may be made to several on line sites...925/1000, ascas site. or by accessing sites through google, call up silver makers marks or silver assay office information.
Jacksons , Grimwade. Wyler are some reliable authorities on British silver hallmarks. Many reference publications are also available for world marks. There is a handy pocket book on English marks by Judith Bannister , quite handy, and think possibly Kovels do one for American marks..Most research is possible on line nowadays..

Some Georgian stuff was bashed about to make it more to Victorian tastes so it can look later but I suspect the two teapots in the front row are the Victorian ones.
