Featured teeny maori bone? pendant

    hi folks, found this little wee sweet pendant yesterday

    i presumed the other (because of how tiny and fine carved)

    but seems to pale for that

    is this just a cheapio modern thing........or not ?

    Bone, I think. I saw similar pieces being made in a small workshop in Ireland about 10 years back.

    The design may have originally been Maori, but I think it is widespread now.

    ....well i've finally found my loop so can have a close look.........but i've lost the bloody thing, so might be academic now anyway.....:rolleyes:

    I carved a number of Maori type pendants before they made mammoth ivory illegal maori2.jpg in a number of states.

    Very cool Holly, i usually dislike pendants full stop (apart from crosses)

    but can see those types looking great worn higher up at a choker type height

    A few years ago (~12) in Victoria, B.C., I purchased a very similar pendant in a retail B.C. shop...of local Jade, for my sweetie. She wears it regularly, an' loves it.
    The design, however old it may be, is as simple as truth...an' timeless. It'll be as evocative in a millennium as it is today.

    and there and at that time it was likely carved by Chinese shop workers...
