Going through my grandparents collection I found this one and decided it's going to stay with me. Can I get any information on it?

Dunno, anything. My grandparent's passed away and we are finally going through their collection. I have decided to start finding thing's that will be in a display case down the road and would like to know info on this. With other items we're just trying to know what it is in general, I guess same goes for this.

Well, it's a naval or maritime telescope. Early or mid 1800s (I'd say before 1850, given the style). Single-draw, with what looks like a sliding lens-shield at the front. Missing the lens-cap over the objective lens, though. But that's pretty common.
