This kind of fancy book cover never would have had a paper dust jacket would it? I just haven't had any luck finding out how to name this type of cover.

This looks very nice and I would've grabbed it too :) which reminds me I need to add color illustrated children's' books to my profile and yes, I know this is black and white. :)

Due to this fact I very much doubt it ever had a dustjacket > It is part of the "See America First" Series.

The decoration is Art Nouveau, if that is of any help.

I worded my question poorly. I'm really tired, sorry about that.
Do I call it cloth over paper board? What is the technique of decorating the cover called?

I recognize the cactus plant, but the name won't come to me. I can remember all the great grandmas and great aunts had these for house plants. For me that was the generation born in the 1880's, and I had quite a few of them lived into the 1970s and '80s.

Sort of a zygocactus, better known as Christmas Cactus? Not really true to nature, but that's the closest to my eyes.

Illustrations should be black and white in this book. That's why I was saying I like color. :) But I have many that are black and white as well.

Well, it's 469 pages. The title page says "With a map and fifty-six plates of which eight are in color" I haven't gone through to make sure everything is still there. It's mostly black and white photos that I've seen so far.
    I don't think it's meant to be a children's book.

    The copyright is 1920.
    First Impression, March, 1920
    Second Impression, April, 1925

The highest priced one on AbeBooks is signed, plus asking and getting may not be the same thing. ;)

If the round illustration on the cover has irregular dots when you look at it under a loupe, it's a chromolithograph.

I think it's rosette pattern offset lithography. Click the pic and you can see the pattern. I noticed this on all the color pictures when I uploaded them from the camera.

Yup, that's offset photolithography, not chromolithography.

There is a seller on Etsy that has similar kind of books. I know nothing about this but figured I would mention her shop if you want to take a glance as a reference for your listings to see how she does her stuff.
BarkingSandsVintage is the Etsy shop name.

Pearls, thanks for posting that... it's helpful for me, too, to see what she's doing with books. Plus I love her photos and it's given me ideas for my own. :)

The normal term is 'pictorial boards'. This is bookseller speak for what you have. Pictorial cloth boards would possibly be better.
