Featured Test your sniffing skills here

For those who are interested, this is a “sniffing game.” Here’s a little background info: I’m on a business trip for the next month a couple states away. I know the thrift stores in this region of the country aren’t very great, so I decide to try my hand sniffing something out on local classifieds. After skimming through a few hundred listings I stumble across these photos. The item is listed for $6.

So here’s the rules for those that want to play:

1. Do you get interested or do you move on?

2. If you’re interested, why?

3. Do you buy it or pass?

We have some really smart and fast people on here, so if you think you have it figured out keep your response vague so some other people have a chance to “sniff it out.”

the stamps are too small....but it looks like Cristoffe...

They had a second one for $5..

 

The fancy handle or center knob would catch my interest at that price even without the marking showing though, leading me to do a bit of research. Nice buys.

 

Spot on observations, my interest also got peaked by the quality of the polish, the care of joint connections, the well made connecting screw, and the fact that they finished the bottom of the connection with a decorative edge. All solid indications of a quality piece.

 

If I were Mr. Nate, first one a definite buy.

Now I've looked, second one too.

I thought the same as Kronos, the fancy handle peaked my interest and it is nice and shiny.

 

Wouldn't be my thing, but it's pretty and the Christophle mark would get me interested immediately.

 

The surface on the first one has that nice smooth buttery look as well
