    I stop at the Swap Shop at our local transfer station every week, this week I was looking for something I could use for a Yankee Swap at a Christmas party. I look for a nice piece of glass or pottery that I can fill with greens or paper white bulbs, but because of Mr Nate I looked at a silver piece. Usually they are plate, but this is silver. It had a ding I thought I could take out so I brought it home.

    Unfortunately, as I was polishing it, I found more serious dings that I can't fix. So to the scrap pile it goes.

    I know it is weighted and not worth a lot, but heck, it was free :)

    Thank you Mr Nate, your stories inspired me to give this a second look!

    I'd take out all the dings you can. Put Christmas greenery around the base to hide the others. Then use it for a candle or candy.

    That’s a Great idea. I have one like that, also dinged. I may do that. :)
    Nice Find, @Marie Forjan!

    ... and a use for an old doily at the same time! Excellent! I am going to try that!

    Free silver!! I’ve gotten cheap silver but never free (outside of pre 64’ coins) silver. That’s quite the score even if it’s weighted. Nicely done.

    I know, it is simple and classic. Maybe I’ll work on the dings I know I can fix and dress it up :)

    @i need help
    I really like the display you showed.
    If I have time, I'm going to try something like that to dress up the Christmas windows.
