    That ornate cast iron rope winder(?) looking item is interesting. Any story on that piece?

    I liked that too, it is a very old spit motor. A clock mechanism rotates the drum which in turn rotates a spit over a fire for cooking meat. It is large, like one foot on each side, and wheel on top must be 18” dia. The ARS tool guy, Lee Richmond, friend of mine, had it on his table. Asking $3500. My wallet was already empty when I found that.

    Looking at the link proved above by our esteemed colleague, the motive power seems to have been supplied by counterweights, not a clock spring as I had assumed.
