I don't know what to make of this ring. The top seems kind of interesting with the woman's face and weird hand. The rest of the ring seems kind of awkwardly made. It's marked 825 or 925 and also 18k - top is gold in color. I think the stones are garnets, but not sure.

Any thoughts as to age or anything at all? Thanks!

The design, of course, is Art Nouveau. And does appear to have the wear one would expect. Appears to have been resized.

Maybe Art Nouveau in style, but I doubt in age.
1970s saw a resurgence of Art Nouveau designs.

The fact that it is marked both with 825 and 18K, also makes me think newer.
18K plate on the top, silver for the shank and base.

Anyone can have a ring resized. Doesn't denote age.

Obviously comment re resizing was nothing more than that.

Yes, I understand that. Only clarified for those who might not know. Not meant as a slight to you.

As far as I can see it is an Art Nouveau wana be, it is lacking the finesse and true Art Nouveau design style. That said, this ring has a certain flair, the stones could also be amethyst if the color on my monitor is accurate.

As cluttered said, there was a big resurgence of Art Nouveau in the 70s, I see a lot of it on eBoo. It is usually easy to spot them if they are pins because of the way the findings are made, rings can be tougher. I usually look closely at the woman's face. A lot of the newer pieces have women that are in clothes or have hair styles that don't match the period. A lot have down right scary looking faces!

Having it in hand, I would say more recent and not period art nouveau.
