Thoughts on 1960s Kodiak island map w/note to congress whistle blower from publisher

I found this at a local thrift store Thurs or Friday and liked it right away because it was a vintage pictorial map of Kodiak Island & the animals on it.
But when photographing it to put on ebay I found a note written on the bottom of the map from Harold Ward - the map's publisher - to a Ernie Fitzgerald.
When I googles Fitzgerald I found he was a famous Air Force/Congress whistle blower on the pentagon's over spending who the military had fired twice & he had then won his job back (with $!) both times in court - so famous that he was called the most hated person in the air force,
So famous that President Nixon said about him, “I said get rid of that son of a bitch" - And that statement was caught on the same recording that Nixon talked about the Watergate breaking & ended up causing him to have to resign from office!!

So I'm curious on any thoughts?
Is the map valuable on it's own? Is it valuable with the note written on it? (I'm guessing the map was a gift from Harold Ward & Associates) - and does it go from map collecting to political collecting?

Either way it was a fun thing to discover!

without proof that Ernie ever owned it........it's a nice story...

 

Possible but would be very difficult to prove provenance. Interestingly, the illustrator appears to be still alive. She moved to Alaska in 1963 so your map would likely date to after that date.
