Thoughts on a wall mount box please.

Seen these described as a glove, brush or comb box but nobody seems to know exactly.

I'm guessing 1880-1920 but could be way out. Shame about the mounting hole damage. The paint work kinda looks like fire damage or maybe just old age but I'm also not sure.
Can anyone pin these down?

You have it right, they are generally seen as vanity boxes. Date wise this type of dark floral painted papier mache is usually 1860-90
