thoughts on Napoleon picture

Hi all any thoughts on this picture I picked up today was In a box full of other old stuff. a little heavier card than photo paper does show a bit of age but looking for opinions please size is a4

 

It isn't Napoleon himself, so probably an actor. @Figtree3 probably knows.

There's a site devoted to the over 200 actors who have portrayed Napoleon since 1897. Here is the link. It's a little time-consuming, but you can get the names and some images.

It's a 20th-century print, for sure. It doesn't show signs of being a copy of an older photo, but could be. Something about the style of it looks like an older photo. The setting around him is a huge mess, though. You don't see 19th-century studio photos in that sort of disarray. So I'm thinking it probably originated in the 20th century and is NOT a copy of an older photo.

For a moment the man looked a little familiar to me. He's definitely in costume, playing Napoleon. Looking around on the site that Bev linked, I agree that it might take a while, but could also be fascinating. http://napoleon.hollowaypages.com/ You also would have to seek out photos of some of the actors, because it doesn't appear that that site has photos of all of them. And the site seems to focus on films, not stage plays. This fellow definitely resembles others who have been in the role.

That's all I have for now. I do think this is an actor, but whether stage or film I have no idea. And the disarray of the set confuses me.
