Unfortunately it’s in poor condition and peeling badly (but framed with glass) Iam not sure but it almost looks if there’s another picture underneath (or is it a base coat?) On the back I think it says: ‘In die Land van Allah’ (In the land of Allah) It’s 49cm x 37cm. Your comments would be appreciated. Thank you

With those condition issues, I think it's a goner.

Oh, but so interesting. Wonder what a German-speaker was doing in North Africa in 1941.

    E Sachse.
It was once a very nice painting.
A South African, given the title in Afrikaans. There are quite a few South Africans of German origin.

If you live near an art conservation training program, they might like it as a challenge to practice on.

There's no other picture underneath. That's the dark ground layer. When you dissemble this I suggest you do so outside.

I do find it intriguing. It must have a little bit of history and a story. Thank you for the reply Debora.

The ground layer. Ok, thanks for that. I appreciate comment. If I don’t donate it or something then I will just keep it ‘as is’. It still has some charm (well to me)
