    This week's market-haul.

Three silver drinking vessels and one Georgian-era naval telescope (behind).

    L-R:

Baby's silver cup (twin-handled. 1936 London). Are these also called porringers or loving-cups? Or am I thinking of something different?

Baby's/Child's silver mug (Australian silver. Marked 'STOKES' with a koala hallmark for some reason, and "STG").

    BIG silver tankard (Sheffield, 1945).

Don't know how old the mug is, but it's made in Australia. 'STOKES' appears to have been a family of silversmiths who operated from the 1800s to the early 20th century (about 1920-ish).

Note the koala hallmark. Dunno if that has any significance. I assume the 'L' is a date-letter of some kind, but so far as I know, Australia never had an official system of hallmarks.

Last, the big ol' tankard. This thing is HUGE. This is easily 2-3 times the size of a standard coffee-mug, if not more.

    Lovely, Shangas.
To locate silver from a great distance?:playful:
You're right, Australia never had official assay marks, probably because most silver came from the UK anyway. They did have other marks which can sometimes help in dating an item. If I am correct, marks like the cute koala were used in the 1920s, which would fit in with what you found about Stokes.
