I found & ended up buying 3 paintings at my local thrift store today; this one (in a thick palette style - see 2nd pic) is only signed Albert, but when I google 'Painting signed Albert' quite a few different artists come up!
And the only one I've found so far that's the same style are by Albert Chubac - and his stuff is selling for $1,000's!
    Is this painting by him?
If not, any idea who artist was?
    Thanks all - fingers crossed!
PS - I can't make out writing on top edge on back - maybe 'Special'? The lettering is unusual; it almost makes me think it was written by someone whose first writing language was Cyrillic?

Doesn’t look like his work to me. Also he seems to sign as Chubac not Albert, did you find a painting signed as yours?

No ones I saw looked like they had a circular Chubac - like a stamp; so I was still hoping...!

Wait for others to give their advice but without the stamp or the Chubac siggie and the painting style I don’t think it is him. Looks like Albert had a good time painting this though! I quite like it.

If you’re just picking names at random, why not go for Albert Gleizes? Far more important and expensive!

Writing on the top edge looks to me like it says ALBERT, upside down & truncated.

To me the actual signature looks like Allert. (Not Hendrik)

I am by no means an expert, however in my past experience I have run across paintings that were labeled like this before. What I believe they are is classroom projects and the canvas, stretcher and what not are all clearly labeled to help keep track of the various students work. Just my opinion.

That was my thought too, although without any experience to back it up.
