I have noticed that jewellery is often thought of as Tibetan when it is not like Tibetan at all. So I thought I would post some of my Tibetan and related Himalayan pieces, as a reference. Maybe @i need help could pin this with the other reference threads.:)

I will also google some representative photos later on.

I think @reader also has some Tibetan, maybe you could post them here as well?

I won't post explanations, but any questions, just ask.

Yes, it is, even for Himalayan. But there are more out there, so people can come across them. It is a 'Ghau' or prayer box, just like some of the other ones.

A side view of the unusual Ghau, so you can see it is a box:

Sure you can, but they will be staying here.:playful:
    Thanks judy.
It is an antique apron clasp, with two hooks at the back to hook into the two ends of the apron bands, which meet at the front. It is actually upside down, the loop is at the bottom, to attach a chatelaine.
Thanks, patd.:) I think the term 'Tibetan silver' for Chinese base metal could lead to confusion when trying to find genuine Tibetan silver.
And then there are the Chinese brass copies of silver Tibetan jewellery. Nothing like the opulence of real Tibetan jewellery.

Amazing, aren't they! Good thing amber is lightweight.
That type of amber is called beeswax amber, it resembles Baltic egg yolk amber, but it is Asian.

I had a bag that was virtually identical to that first collar!

Those are stunning AJ. Althou I've seen a lot of pictures and films from the area, I've never seen anything like these.

The purple one is amazing, looks a bit like a David star (as in Israeli flag), the 2 perfect triangles, any connection or just coincidence.
    Kind regards,
    Simona

Not AJ (I wish LOL) but can tell you that the 6 pointed star is not unique to Judaism. It is also used in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam.

Just amazing pieces AJ. I have nothing left-I let go of everything years ago accept for individual beads and pieces that I’ve used in my own work. I was stupid-can you believe I owned an antique Dzi in the 70s? I sold it in the 80s for a lot of money but nothing compared to what they’re worth today. Don’t ask and it was definitely legit. Woulda, coulda, shoulda...

The only other non western ethnic piece I kept is a Turkamon cuff. When I moved to the SW I just found that I wore more NA and Mexico. I kick myself over it everyday. Hindsight...

I’m laughing at that one collar. My bag was identical. Someone took a collar and backed it into a clutch.
