We went to an excellent car boot sale today. Lots of jewellery although lots at high street prices. Found a couple of dealers with plastic bags of odds and ends so I didn’t really know what I was getting and a few sellers with my sort of prices!. As you know I buy anything that catches my interest as I love the research that goes with it.
As always I’d love your input :)

Vulcanite? bangle 50p- sadly got a small chunk out of it but still nice.

Brooch with lock of hair. Glass in centre broken and surround damaged - what do you think the stone is or glass?

Cute glass bird necklace and spare birds.

Lovely beads- yellow are heavy swirly glass and the odd red ones I think are glass too but not sure. No clasps on any to help.

Does the Scotty dog have a charm hook? I’d swear he’s the Monopoly dog.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    Certainly looks like it.

And @KSW , if you or somebody can find when the royal photo was taken, that should help in identifying whether it's for the coronation or not.

Do you mean the yellow ones?. The seller was raving about them being something special she had bought from auction etc etc but couldn’t remember what they were called.

Having looked closer there isn’t a loop. I just assumed he was a charm as he was with the others. Obviously a lost Scottie dog!

Those little glass birdie beads - those are lampwork.

Ah, so lampwork is blown/worked glass. I’d never really thought about it but the name gives it away!.
I love the birdies. They are very cute.

Having googled Chalcedony I can see what you mean.
A gem tester is definitely on my birthday list so I can start to tell for myself what things are made of.

It's literally glass formed over a hot lamp: all those little glass animals you see. A real skill, fascinating to watch.

Having googled the black bangle I'm now wondering if it's Whitby jet and not vulcanite. That old chestnut......

Wow, an oldie. Shame it's a bit battered.
I may be a bit sad but sorting through old jewellery and finding little bits of history makes me happy :)
